REcord your own Jesus-Driven Adventure
Do you want to read your Bible every day, but aren’t sure how (or if) daily devotions change your life?
This line of journals seeks to connect the daily grind with the excitement of following our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. It combines regular journaling (a.k.a., what I did today & how I feel about it) with devotional thoughts (a.k.a., what God has shown me through His Word & what I have learned or been reminded about Him), simply through jotting down a little each day.
This journal won’t tell you what to read or how to learn, but rather it will guide you through reflection on your devotional time and day-to-day life, checking in monthly to help you connect ideas, track answered prayers, and create an account of how Jesus is working in you through His Word, so you can look back and see the fingerprints of faithfulness scattered over your life.

Devotionals and More Journaling Tools:
While the items in the sections below aren’t items I’ve created (unlike the journals above), they are things I believe are worth sharing! I do receive a small commission from purchases made through the following Amazon links, but it doesn’t add any cost to you. I genuinely hope one or more of these items help you on your devotional adventures, and I appreciate you checking out links that also support me and my writing of Christian action novels.
Without further adieu, let me introduce you to my favourite devotionals! (Keep scrolling for pens and highlighters!)
Devotional Books:
God Is My Hiding Place: 40 Devotions for Refuge and Strength by Corrie Ten Boom
This 40-day devotional takes snippets of Corrie Ten Booms writing and divides it to a short devotional for each day. As someone who enjoyed The Hiding Place, I loved having Ten Boom’s teaching in bite-sized proportions that I could digest throughout the day. This is an incredibly encouraging and convicting little book.

He Is Strong: Devotions for When You Feel Weak by Emily Jensen
I’ll be honest: the gorgeous cover on this book was what pushed me to buy this one. Even if the book promised more than it could deliver, I told myself it would be pretty on my shelf, and that would be worth it. But, no fear! The pages between the embossed cover delivered so much encouragement for a weak and weary heart, and I found myself regularly underlining thoughts to gnaw on. If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, afraid, depressed, Jensen has a devotional for you–literally, this book of devotions has a handy table of contents arranged by “When You” statements, as though this is actually a first aid manual for the soul disguised as a pretty little devotional book.

Pens, Highlighters, and More:
We all have our favourite pieces of stationery, and I’ve collected my favourites below, particularly those that would match the journals above (because having ink that matches the cover of your journal is a level of cohesion I aspire to).
Favourite Black Pens: Sharpie Pens
I love coloured pens, but these are a staple for me as an author. These are reliable whether I’m signing books at a market or jotting down tiny notes in the margins of a book or manuscript.

Favourite Coloured Pens: Papermate Scented Felt Tip Pens
These pens not only write beautifully on-a-budget, but they also match most of the journals above. I loved my first set until the ink ran completely dry, but I quickly replaced them with more of the same. Great, long-lasting quality that truthfully keeps up with my quick hand and abundance of note-taking.

Favourite Caligraphy/Handlettering Pens: Tombow Fudenosuke Brush Pen
Sometimes a certain word or phrase of Scripture truly hits home, and I feel the need to meditate on it. I began dabbling in handlettering a few years ago, and these pens are my go-to as an economical “starter” pen. I have loads of fun with these, and so if you want to fiddle with handlettering, these are a great place to start.

Favourite Highlighers: Pastel Sharpie Pocket Highlighers
Again, these match the journals with softer tones than the typical neons. A must-have in my drawer.

Favourite Sticky Tabs: Post-it Flags with Dispensers
I won’t dog-ear my favourite pages of a book, but I will make sure I can find it later. These tabs stay exactly where you want them, even if you have to pull them off and reapply because you’re overtired and uncoordinated. They come with slick dispensers that give you more time to focus on reading and journaling than fighting with a cheap sticky note (been there, done that).

Favourite Sticky Notes: Post-it Super Sticky Notes, Assorted Bright Colours
What would a list of my favourite items be without sticky notes?? These ‘hold true’ to their promise of being super sticky, and personally I love that you get 5 colours out of this pack. Lots of options for matching with whatever journal you may pick up (mine or otherwise), and I have these posted throughout my house with Bible verses and other reminders I want to keep at the forefront of my mind (eg. I have a quote from Emily Jensen’s devotional stuck to my desk right now, saying “When we long for greatness, we’re longing for God.”)
